How to Use Puppy Pads
    and Outdoor Potty Training Together
Housebreak your puppy in a few short steps
by using Puppy Pads as step one

Steps
Wherever the new puppy first goes on the floor, thats where you place the Puppy Pad.
Every day,you move the pad a little bit closer towards the door...and every time the
puppy uses the Pad,tell him what a GOOD DOG he is, with gentle petting and a sweet
voice...
Soon the Puppy Pad will be located by the door. So now, when the puppy goes towards
the door, you know,he needs to go. Open the door, drag the pad outside, let puppy go,on
pad,or on ground. Tell him how GOOD he is, whether he goes on the pad, or on the
ground.
Put a rock on the pad, and leave it outside the door, put down a clean pad inside the
door...next time puppy goes towards the door(needs to go..)...open the door and let him
choose,inside pad,outside pad,or ground..
Soon he will get the idea, and the outside pad can be removed, the inside pad can be put
down when you cannot watch him going to the door(when he is alone at home)....

Tips
This works very well, and is accomplished fairly soon, but the most important part is the
immediate "Good Dog" with the sweet voice, and a gentle pat from the owner,as soon as
puppy goes where he is supposed to...Dogs learn much better, and much more, by
kindness, than from harshness.

Warnings
Never hit your dog with your hand.Your hand is the instrument, through your hand and
your voice all kindness and joy comes towards the little one.Dogs live to please their
owners.
Usually raising ones voice SLIGHTLY is enoough to let the dog know it did something
that displeased the owner.
A "NO" with a raised finger teaches the puppy what you dont like.

How to Pick up Dog Poop

Taking your dog for a walk, is great exercise for both you and your pet. However, when the
dog poops, it is your job, under the law, to pick it up. Not only is it not a pretty sight, it is
also a breeder of germs and disease. Cleaning up after your dog isn't the most fun
experience, and may sound gross, but when done correctly it isn't.
Steps
Take your dog for a walk. Bring a leash for him/her, and a plastic bag for yourself to hold.
Walk and enjoy the day out, but once the dog stops and smells the ground, be ready start
removing the bag from your pocket, and start opening it.
Hold the leash with your one hand, as you maneuver the bag with the other. Put your hand
into the bag, grab the bottom of the bag with your fingers, and pick up the mess on the
ground.
Use your other hand to pull the top of the bag over your fist, retaining the poop inside the
bag.
Tie the bag tightly, and dispose of it in the nearest trash receptacle.
Continue to enjoy your walk with your dog.

Tips
Always carry more than one bag.
If you can't bring yourself to handle the poop, even through a plastic bag, purchase a
commercially made "Pooper Scooper." These usually consist of a handle on one end of a
long arm, with a double-sided shovel on the other end.

Warnings
Leaving the poop on the street, or in the park is against the law in most states. It can carry
a heavy fine. So enjoy your dog, but at the same time keep the streets clean. Pick up after
them!
